Coach Joanne Boyle may leave Cal women's basketball team for Virginia
The future of Cal's Joanne Boyle was unclear Friday amid reports the women's basketball coach is in negotiations with the University of Virginia to replace Women's Hall of Fame coach Debbie Ryan.
A Cal athletic department source told the Bay Area News Group that Boyle is talking to Virginia but didn't know whether the coach had reached an agreement.
Boyle, who led the Bears to postseason appearances in all six of her seasons in Berkeley and is 137 64, did not respond to numerous attempts to reach her by phone or text. Officials from both schools said Friday they didn't have any announcements to make. Her Cal team was 18 16 this past season.
