Clear Lake snaps skid
Clear Lake football snapped a 13 game losing streak by beating Baytown Sterling 33 22 last Friday, but the seeds to that victory were planted the week before against Pasadena Memorial.
The Falcons lost to Pasadena Memorial 36 27 after falling behind 22 0 in the first period and trailing 29 6 at halftime, but in the second half,[url=http://www.campingterreferme.fr/converse-femme-pas-cher.html]converse femme pas cher[/url], Clear Lake staged a tenacious comeback and got within two points (29 27) with 5:17 to go.
"We became a different team that night in the third quarter," Clear Lake's second year coach Sam Smith said. "We told the players it was a positive step forward, and it carried over to the next week, and now, that monkey is out of the way."
The Falcons (1 2) go for two in a row in their final non district outing against Conroe (1 2) at 7 pm. Friday,[url=http://www.campingterreferme.fr/converse-enfant.html]converse enfant[/url], Sept. 21, at Clear Creek ISD Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Conroe lost to Nimitz 55 35 and Hastings 35 16 before beating Aldine 30 28 last week.
"Coach (Roger) Holtkamp has a great program and does a great job at Conroe, and even though they struggled a little last season (2 8), they have a good team," Smith said. "They have a real good quarterback (Stedman Bell) and running back (Larry Day) and some nice wide receivers they go to, and a solid defense.
"If we take care of the ball and make no mistakes in the kicking game, we have a chance to do well against every team we play. I'm not saying we're a great team, and we still have a lot of work to do, but you have to take care of the ball and not just give it away."
The Falcons took care of business against Sterling rushing for 301 yards behind 160 and a touchdown on 16 carries by sophomore , and 130 and a score on 24 tries by senior .

"There are great kids, great coaches and great programs throughout the district, and you really do throw all the records out when it starts."
The Falcons' victory over Sterling had plenty of side plots with Clear Lake senior receiver Travis Aduddell facing his father, Sterling head coach , who is also the former Clear Lake head coach.
"I've never had a player on my team whose father was the opponent's head coach," Smith said. "That's a first for me."
Travis Aduddell's mother teaches at Clear Lake and he decided to stay with the Falcons and his longtime teammates when his dad made the move to Sterling two years ago.
Smith, who took over for Troy Aduddell at Clear Lake, also coaches his son, Falcon junior quarterback Sam Smith III.
"There were definitely some different dynamics, and it was unusual having a son vs. father matchup,[url=http://www.ngcommit.fr/nike-free-run-2-pas-cher/]nike free run 2 pas cher[/url], and also having a team facing its ex coach," Smith said.
