Scandinavian Airlines was formed shortly after the end of [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] World War 2, by combining the efforts of several airlines and a private investor from Sweden. All airlines have done what Scandinavian Airlines has done. Expanding and capturing as much of the market as possible is the goal. The airline accomplished that feat by simply gaining either partial or full control of the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] smaller airlines operating in their domestic areas. Air Canada and Continental Airlines are now part of the SAS.

The Norway division of Scandinavia [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Airlines is actually called SAS Braathens. One other component of this company was called Scandinavian Airlines Norge. SAS Norway is the end result of changing Braathens to Norway in the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] name. This process really was not confusing despite all of the controversy. The SAS Norwegian operations, as late as 2007, retains this [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] configuration until present day. Norway, for instance, still utilizes Scandinavian Airlines Norge to handle flight operations that are domestic in nature. Norway is no different than the other two SAS partner countries in that Norge handles outgoing international flights.

Since the late 90's, the SAS has existed as four entities or divisions which include three divisions, one of each of Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
